Analog Notes No. 4
Wednesday Musings
Analog Notes is a midweek pause in the noise. A small letter from my desk—what I’m reading, making, and noticing as I slow down and live a little more off-screen.
Midweek reminder to see the beauty and blessings in every single moment. They are there waiting for you to notice. These are the small things feeding my soul right now:
1. What I’m Reading
Dominion by Addie E. Citchens had me in its grips from the beginning of the book. I loved the telling of the stories from the perspective of a few characters. It is one of those books where I found myself talking to the characters like I would in a movie theater. 😂 It did not end as I expected, but I was satisfied. Here is a snapshot of what the book is about: A brilliantly crafted Black Southern family drama told with the captivating force, humor, and tenderness carried in the hearts of these women, Addie E. Citchens’s Dominion wrestles with the many brutal, sinister ways in which we are shaped by fear and patriarchy, and studies how we might yet choose to break free.
2. What I’m Making
Doodles. Lots of doodles. One of my favorite things to do while listening to a podcast or watching a show that doesn’t demand my undivided attention is doodle. I especially love when I end up with a pattern or that pattern turns into something like florals.
3. What’s Feeding My Joy
Cookbooks. I used to have a decent collection of classic cookbooks, but had all of them stolen when I was moving a few years ago. I have not replaced those books, but I have a healthy collection now. A few of my favorites are:
4. A Thought Worth Keeping
”We are each other’s harvest; we are each other’s business; we are each other’s magnitude and bond.” ~ Gwendolyn Brooks

Helpful Does Not Equal Harmless. When “Help” is Really Harm, Control, and Performance.
Until next time, stay curious and keep something this week just for yourself.

Okay, I'm furious that you had cookbooks (and likely other things) stolen during a move. WTF!
And I love your doodles. Mostly when I doodle it's stars and hearts and stars and hearts and stars and hearts and sometimes a daisy. :)
Also a fan of cookbooks. Check out Alexander Smalls. He's got a few cookbooks and he's not only a wonderful chef, he's also a great storyteller. Lots of good cooking and great stories.
